Notes on Hunger

Here at Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland, our time is spent procuring food and distributing it to those in our 42-county service area facing hunger. That involves quite a bit of strategic decisions, planning and coordination to ensure we are doing our best to tackle the ever-increasing needs of the food insecure.

And it involves you – your work and determination to help us fight hunger. As we deliver another food order to a partner agency, host a mobile food pantry or fill BackPack Program bags, we know that if it weren’t for the support of the community we would not be able to be as effective to those facing hunger. 

We’d love it if you would consider a fun new way of giving back – virtual food drives! As opposed to food drives that involve filling barrels, virtual food drives are a much simpler way to raise money and awareness. Shoppers can purchase “food” through specific donations online, which means no need for barrels and collection boxes. Plus, with our collective buying power we can acquire more food for every dollar donated, which means we make your donation go even further. For every $1 given, we can distribute eight meals to a family facing hunger.

Consider setting up a virtual food drive for your family, friends, and/or business to support! Be sure and let us know when you do so we can help spread the word.
