25K pounds of food donated to southern KY families through Realtors® Hope for Hunger, FAKH event

A group of realtors from REALTORS® Hope for Hunger helped with food distribution in Bowling Green and Warren County.

Through the combined efforts of REALTORS® Hope for Hunger and Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland (FAKH), a total of 25,983 pounds of food have been distributed to families in need in southern Kentucky.

Now in its ninth year, the REALTORS® Hope for Hunger, led by members of REALTOR® Association of Southern Kentucky, collects money to purchase food to be distributed throughout southern Kentucky in partnership with FAKH. This fall, more than $20,000 was raised and FAKH provided another $10,000 in food to assist families in need. Counties served were Simpson, Warren, Allen, Logan, Butler and Edmonson.

“The support from the community has been tremendous,” said Angi Cline, REALTORS® Hope for Hunger Community Service Chair. “We’re proud to work alongside community members and FAKH to help meet the basic needs of children and families in Southern Kentucky.”

Family Resource Coordinators from schools determined how the food will be allocated to children and families.

“Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland is proud to once again partner with the REALTORS® Association of Southern Kentucky to fight hunger,” said FAKH Executive Director Jamie Sizemore. “Families with school-aged children have been impacted the most during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of these families are facing hunger for the first time and need assistance to keep food on the table. The REALTORS® Hope for Hunger project is a great example of an organization stepping up to meet the unprecedented needs our local communities are now facing.”
