What’s on Your Holiday Wish List?

Thousands of people across the country are already stressing about studying ads, mapping out game plans, and making lists to prepare for the biggest shopping day of the year. But many others right here in our own region are worried about something much worse.

In 2016, the average person spent roughly $290 on Black Friday alone1.  Yet, 31% of the people we serve have sold or pawned personal property so they have enough to eat.  That’s over 54,000 who need a little extra cash, not so they can get the latest iPhone, but so they can simply put food on the table.

There’s nothing wrong with buying gifts for your loved ones, or even yourself.  But this holiday season maybe we can all work to spend just a little less and donate just a little more.  Every $1 that is donated to FAKH can help provide 8 meals to those in need.  Don’t we all deserve to have peace of mind when it comes to the food on our table?
