Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland Board Chair, Jeremy Hinton, co-owner of Hinton’s Orchard and Farm Market in Hodgenville, had the honor of testifying before the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry on Capitol Hill on Feb 26.
Jeremy joined a panel of agricultural leaders from across the country to discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by specialty crop growers. He highlighted issues like farmland loss, inadequate crop insurance for specialty farmers, and labor shortages. He also emphasized the growth potential in direct-to-consumer sales.
In addition to Jeremy’s role as Board Chair for FAKH, Hinton’s Orchard and Farm Market is a participant in FAKH’s Farms to Food Banks program, which helps combat hunger by purchasing unmarketable produce from Kentucky farmers and distributing it to those facing food insecurity. We’re incredibly proud of Jeremy for advocating on behalf of area farmers and raising awareness on important agricultural issues at such a high level. Thank you for your dedication to our region!
