Each month the Churches of Christ Food Bank provides hope to over 100 people. As one of our five partner agencies in Simpson County, they provide food assistance to families, seniors, and children who are struggling to meet their own needs. This assistance allows those they serve to breathe just a little easier, to have hope that things will get better, and that there are people who care about them.
One of those people is Annie Bland, a volunteer at the food bank. Annie, who is Franklin, KY native, has been involved with the organization for over 10 years. The wife of a preacher, Annie said she was inspired to get involved because she saw “the need of the community”.
As the Agency Coordinator, Annie is responsible for many things at the food bank, including preparing orders, coordinating deliveries, and tracking inventory. But despite her long list of duties, the impact she sees is what keeps her going. “I feel that this agency fills the gap and gives the recipient another alternative to food stamps. It also fosters the act of giving and caring in our community,” explained Annie.
