June 12, 2024 – The Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (SEBT) is a U.S. federal assistance program designed to address the issue of food insecurity among students during the summer months. This program will help provide grocery benefits to eligible families with school aged children.
Families will receive $120 per child, loaded onto the participating family’s EBT card for the months of June, July and August.

Eligibility:
- Students ages 6-17 (as of August 1, 2023) who have received SNAP, KTAP, and/or Kinship Care for at least one month since July 1st, 2023 are eligible and will automatically receive benefits onto the family’s existing EBT card.
- Students not in the category above can apply for SEBT online at: https://kysebt.ky.gov/ or https://kynect.ky.gov/benefits/
For those who do not qualify to automatically receive SEBT, applications will be available starting on June 24, 2024 and will close on August 15, 2024. To apply for SEBT, verification of household monthly income, as well as student identification, will be needed. Students who are eligible after applying for SEBT can expect to receive their benefits in the mail within seven business days of submitting their application.
