As of Tuesday, March 7, 2023 nearly 44,000 Kentuckians were still without power following high winds and severe weather. The extended loss of power has left many Kentuckians having to replace all of the food in their fridge and freezer – an unexpected cost that not everyone can afford given the rising price of foods like milk, eggs, meat and so on.
If you are a Kentuckian impacted by the storms and you have lost food purchased through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) you can apply to have those benefits replaced.
Requirements:
- Must be a Kentucky resident
- Must already be enrolled in the SNAP program
- Must have lost food due to a power outage of AT LEAST four hours
To request benefit replacement you can call DBS at 855-306-8959 to request a FS-70 which will be mailed to your home, or visit your local DBS office and complete a form with one of their employees.
