July 22, 2024 – Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland (FAKH) announced a significant transition in the ongoing effort to combat food insecurity in Allen County. True Gospel Fellowship Church, an agency partner of FAKH since 1998, is passing the baton to Scottsville Church of Christ to further support the community’s growing need.
Scottsville Church of Christ will take over The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), in addition to running their food pantry. To aid in the transition and ensure continued support for the community, FAKH will host a mobile TEFAP distribution in the Scottsville Church of Christ parking lot in July (7/24) and August (8/14). Starting in September, Scottsville Church of Christ will officially begin distributing TEFAP to the community.
The change comes in response to the increasing demand for food assistance in Allen County, where over 3,000 residents, including 1,000 children, face food insecurity. True Gospel Fellowship Church and its volunteers recognized the need for expanded resources and services, prompting the transition of programs to Scottsville Church of Christ.
Charles Dennis, Executive Director of FAKH, commended True Gospel Fellowship Church for their years of commitment and service, and FAKH presented representatives of the church with a Golden Plate Award. FAKH Golden Plate Awards are given to partnering individuals or organizations who go above and beyond in their work to address hunger in Kentucky’s Heartland.
“We are deeply grateful to True Gospel Fellowship Church for their 25 years of tireless work and dedication in addressing hunger in our community,” Dennis said. “As we move forward, we are excited to expand our partnership with Scottsville Church of Christ, whose enthusiasm and commitment to serving those in need will undoubtedly continue to make a significant difference in Allen County.”
