Heat or Eat: The Impossible Choice

Have you ever wanted to be on a game show—The Price Is RightWheel of Fortune, or Let’s Make a Deal? You’re on the big stage, choosing between door number one or door number two. Pick right and you win big. Pick wrong and… well, at least it was fun.

But for thousands of Kentucky families,  they are having to make a choice that isn’t a part of a game.

Every winter, families are forced to choose between heating their homes or feeding their children—heat or eat. An impossible decision when both are essential.

So let’s make a deal. For every dollar you donate, FAKH helps provide eight meals for families in the Heartland. Together, we can help families choose door number one and door number two. Donate today and help turn Heat OR Eat into Heat AND Eat.

Hunger can affect health, development, and well-being.
Some common effects include:

Weakened immune system
Deficiencies in vitamins like A, C, and zinc make it harder for the body to fight off illness, so people facing hunger may get sick more often.
Stunted growth or development
Chronic lack of protein, iron, and other key nutrients in childhood can permanently affect physical growth and brain development.
Mental and Emotional strain
Chronic hunger can cause stress, anxiety, irritability, and difficulty concentrating, making every day tasks feel impossible.
