Our Executive Director, Charles Dennis, recently took an important trip to Washington D.C. to join forces with fellow leaders in the fight against food insecurity in Kentucky. Alongside advocates from Feeding Kentucky, God’s Pantry Food Bank, and Dare to Care Food Bank, Charles met with key Congressional leaders, including Congressman Brett Guthrie, Senator Mitch McConnell, Congressman Andy Barr, and Congressman James Comer, to discuss legislative priorities aimed at addressing hunger and food insecurity in the Commonwealth.
One of the central topics of discussion was the vital role that landmark legislation, such as the farm bill, plays in combating food insecurity. Programs like the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) are critical resources for families in need, and the group emphasized the importance of these programs to ensure continued support for vulnerable populations.
We’re incredibly proud of Charles and this passionate group of advocates who are working hard for meaningful change to support those who need it most. These efforts are necessary to ensure that no one goes hungry in our communities.
