Food & Fund Drives
We rely on donated food, and local food drives sponsored by businesses, schools and other organizations are an integral part. Traditional food drives, such as collecting canned foods and non-perishable foods, are always welcome. Fund drives are also a great way to raise money and awareness for our organization – for every $1 donated, 8 meals can be purchased through our collective purchasing system.
Your dollar will stretch even further for those in need through a Virtual Food Drive. Everything is easier online, and the same is true for food drives. With virtual food drives you can donate nutritious food without lifting a can.For information on how to host a Traditional or Virtual Food Drive, contact Collin Brown at 270-735-1407 or email cbrown@feedingamericaky.org

Volunteer
Volunteers are our most treasured resource at Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland. Each year, volunteers donate their time sorting food, packing bags for our BackPack Program, and in other ways. In 2019, more than 25,000 volunteer hours were donated. That’s like having almost twelve more full-time employees, and it ensures the efficiency of our food bank’s distribution process.

We know flexibility helps make our Volunteer Center successful. We understand that it isn’t always easy to schedule volunteer time in advance, however, due to COVID-19 we ask that all volunteers call ahead before serving with us. Groups of six or more must always call ahead so we can schedule your visit when there’s plenty of food sorting, packing, and other tasks to complete.
Volunteers must be 16 years old to work without a parent or guardian.
There are also volunteer opportunities available with our partner agencies across the region. If you are interested in learning more about these opportunities in your local area, please contact our main office at 270-769-6997.
